The Situation in Namibia

Namibia can be characterized simply as a country of two worlds. 10% of the country has a high standard of living. These are mostly ethnically white citizens. 20% of Namibia has an average standard of living.
At the opposite end of the spectrum is the 50 to 60% of the population that unable or cannot take advantage of the economical situation in their country and therefore are poor. This segament of the population can only spend about 1 or 2 USD a day which is not enough to purchase a loaf of bread and a bottle of milk and have little chance to survive outside of the formal job market. There is no inhereint small businesses that work within the communities and those that are operating there have very little chance of survival against a modern strong economy.
