„People in Need“ started as a community center and a supervised workshop in Southern Namibia which employed people who were stuggling with poverty and were victims of HIV/AIDS. Within one year the center which had employed 12 people at the beginnning had grown to nearly 50 employees.

The payment structure is set up to allow people with little or no skills to earn at least 3 USD per day, which is about the minimum salary which one needs to survive.
One advantage that „People in Need“ has is that some of its operation money is provide by the Czech government, Ministery of Labor and Social Affair. This cooperation, gives them the assurance that the project will continue.

The workshop’s focus is on producing different items such as ones which have practical uses, jewelery with traditional motives and materials. These items are then sold in Namibia and the Czech Republic.

Our goal is to increase our sales enough for the project to become self-sustaining and to increase the project scope. There are a few ways of doing this. One of which is to develop stable buyers for the products.
